Job Posting: Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Chinese Archaeology

The UCL Institute of Archaeology is seeking to appoint a full-time Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Chinese Archaeology to co-ordinate the MA degree in Archaeology and Heritage of Asia, and teach three undergraduate and Master's-level modules, and to contribute more generally to teaching and administration as required. The post-holder will teach at all levels and be responsible for lecturing and tutorials, supervising dissertations and marking assignments.

New Book: Ancient Japan in East Asia: archeology, mythology, history.

The collection includes memoirs about the outstanding Russian orientalist, specialist in the history of peoples, countries and legal systems of the states of the Far East - Mikhail Vasilyevich Vorobyov, as well as articles and translations of sources on the history of primitive Korea and primitive, ancient and early medieval Japan until the beginning of the VIII century, presented by Russian and foreign researchers.

The Ōyu Stone Circles in northern Japan.

Popular Archaeology: Stonehenge exhibition explores parallels with Japanese stone circles

The exhibition will feature 80 striking objects, some of which have never before been seen outside Japan. Key loans announced on Wednesday include a flame pot, a highly decorated type of Jōmon ceramics, its fantastical shape evoking blazing flames. Such pots were produced in Japan for a relative short period, perhaps only a few hundred years.
