Dear Members of the Society for East Asian Archaeology,
On behalf of the entire executive board, I would like to welcome you to the new home of the SEAA online. After many years of excellent service, we decided it was time for an update and change to a new website where members can easily find and discuss the latest news, discoveries, publications, and jobs related to the archaeology of East Asia. Along with the change in format, I’ll be serving as the new Web Editor. My name is Andrew Womack and I’m currently a postdoctoral scholar in Chinese Archaeology at Stanford University. I’ll be managing the transition to the new site as well as the new SEAA blog. The new website contains a number of improvements and new features, including:
- A reformatted home page with a newsfeed from the newly created SEAA Twitter account that will provide updates and announcements for all visitors to the site.
- The SEAA blog. The blog will combine the previous updates, publication announcements, and job board, with member-submitted contributions on topics relating to East Asian archaeology. Posts will be tagged and archived for easy searching, while members will be able to comment on, and view comments on, each post. If you would like to submit a post for review by the Web Editor, please see News Blog Submission Guidelines.
- Member Profiles. Please take a moment to update your SEAA account with a profile photo, institutional affiliation, and other information. This information will only be viewable to other members and will be linked to any blog posts you submit or comment on. Please also take a moment to review the permission settings for your profile on the new site at the bottom of your account page.
- Automatic Registration and Renewal. You can now join the SEAA or renew your membership automatically online—a feature that our treasurer is very happy about! You will receive an automated email when your membership is about to expire so that you can renew it in advance.
- Automated Conference Registration and Abstract Submission. While the next SEAA conference is still a few years away, we have implemented a new registration and abstract submission system that is fully automated. Look for more information under the SEAA Conferences dropdown menu when the next conference location is revealed. This will be announced both on the Twitter account and the SEAA blog.
In the next few days, you will receive an email with your account details for the new SEAA website. Please check your spam/junk folder if you do not see it in your inbox. The account details email will contain a one-time login link that will automatically log you in to the website and will direct you to your account page where you can set your password. If you do not receive the email, please contact the SEAA Web Editor for assistance.
