Stanley Ho Junior Research Fellowship in Chinese

Pembroke College, Oxford wishes to appoint a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Chinese Studies of any area, discipline or period. The appointment will be from 1 September 2021 for three years.

The Stanley Ho JRF in Chinese will be expected to conduct original research in their chosen field and to contribute to the development of Chinese studies at Pembroke College. This will include assisting students reading Chinese in the college with advice and mentoring. Teaching opportunities may also be available through the Oriental Studies Faculty and with the consent of the Fellow in Chinese.

Symposium on the Transition to Agriculture at the edges of Eurasia, July 4-5, 2024

The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research (University of Cambridge) will host a two-day symposium on "The Transition to Agriculture at the edges of Eurasia: Neolithisation in the British Isles and the Jomon-Yayoi transition" on July 4-5. This two-day symposium will present the latest advances on the transition to farming in the British Isles and the Japanese archipelago as well as the key outputs of the ENCOUNTER project. A total of 19 speakers will discuss different aspects of this pivotal event, covering aspects such as population genetics, cultural transmission, paleoecology, subsistence economy and paleodemography. Hakuhodo Foundation is now accepting applications for the 16th Hakuhodo Foundation Japanese Research Fellowship.

The Fellowship invites leading international researchers of the Japanese language, Japanese language education, Japanese literature and Japanese culture to Japan to conduct residential research.
In providing residential research opportunities, the Fellowship aims to further strengthen the base of international research into Japan and to deepen the understanding of Japan.

1. Fellowship period(tentative):
Long-term (12 months): September 1, 2021 - August 31, 2022
Short-term (6 months): September 1, 2021 - February 28, 2022 (Round 1) or
March 1, 2022 - August 31, 2022 (Round 2)

2. Schedule:

The Board of EAAA is pleased to announce the new call for papers for the 3rd EAAA conference to be held at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, between 13 and 17 September 2023. Dr. Kwang-chih Chang (1931-2001) is a pioneer best known for bringing the richness and diversity of Chinese archaeology to the world. Throughout his life, he was influential in the development of archaeological theory, the fostering of international cooperative research in East Asia, and has trained many students who went on to become distinguished archaeologists in their own right.
