Fourth Worldwide SEAA Conference successfully convened in Beijing
From June 3rd to June 5th 2008, the Fourth Worldwide SEAA Conference was convened at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in Beijing, More than 200 scholars from England, America, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Russia, Israel, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and more participated and debated on the following range of topics:
Palaeolithic in East Asia, comparative study of early complex societies in East Asian and the world, metallurgy and societies of the Eurasian continent, the archaeology of East Asian islands, the local territorial interactions of prehistoric peoples in East Asia, protection of East Asian archaeological heritage sites, the bronze period in China, southern China and Southeast Asian prehistoric archaeology, etc. Subjects across the panels included ancient animals, plants, physical anthropology, glassware, pottery, and many more. The wide range of topics not only included today’s most burning theoretical issues in the domain of East Asian archaeological research. They also surmise and highlight the achievements in the area of modern East Asian archaeology.
